Blog Post 5: Julieta Kirkwood was born on June 3, 1943 in Santiago, Chile. She studied Sociology at the University of Chile and obtained her PhD in Political Science at the University of Heidelberg, Germany. She is known for her influence on the feminist movement in Chile and for her work in the sociology of gender. Her life and work focused on the defense of women's rights and the analysis of the power structures that perpetuate gender inequality. She founded the “Centro de Estudios de la Mujer” (CEM), a institution in the investigation of women 's rights in Chile. For me, Julieta is important in the vindication of women in Sociology, and I  also consider her brave woman and one of the most important sociologist in Chile, proposing gender issues in the middle of the military dictatorship, actively participating in the promotion of women's rights and in the visibility of gender inequalities in Chilean society.

Blog Post 4:  This is the photo of the creation of an agro-park in the Zúñiga School located in San Vicente de Tagua Tagua where you can see large hectares of flora. On Friday, October 20th with some classmates we traveled to this place to participate in a volunteer program organized by Professor Manuel Canales in order to rebuild this place. The main idea is that when the place is completely clean, students can have outdoor classes, learn about environmental issues and understand that knowledge is not only inside of  a classroom. This is extremely important to me, as I believe that real knowledge is seen in practice or rather in nature. I believe that traditional education leaves aside this important part of personal and academic education, and I would have liked to have such beautiful places in the school where I studied.

Blog Post 3: My favourite piece of technology is my cell phone. My uncle gave it to me for my birthday in 2021 and has been preserved to the present day. In my cell phone I have valuable personal information, university stuff, important photos and my social networks that help me communicate with my family and friends. I usually use it everywhere, when I need an Uber it also helps me, or to use Google Maps so I don't get lost. I use it especially on the bus to listen to music and at night when I have free time for watching Tiktok. I like my cell phone because it is easy to transport. My life without it would be quite complicated, as I wouldn´t be able to have contact with friends or family that I don't see often and my rides on the bus would be more boring.

Blog Post 2:  When I was a child I had many dreams about my future. I wanted to be a teacher, I always taught my classmates and played with my friends to do homework. When I grew up, I realized that I was interested in Geology, since earthquakes seemed very particular and interesting to me, however I did not do very well in Science.  Finally, in my last year of high school I discovered Sociology and I loved it. The curriculum was one of the main reasons for me to study this career. Currently, I do not regret the decision I made and I am happy at the University although it is very demanding. I would like to be able to work in different organizations, but especially helping women or children who are victims of violence.
